About me

My name is David Copp Stringer and I am a business owner, entrepreneur, mentor and Head Golf Coach at Walnut Grove Christian School.
I am also a life long athlete beginning with baseball and soccer at Shorecrest Preparatory High School, in St. Pete, FL.
I began playing golf at Lenoir-Rhyne College when I was on the baseball team my Freshman year.
I turned to golf “full-time” as a coping mechanism when I transferred to UNC Charlotte my Sophomore year and didn’t make the UNCC baseball squad. I also began coaching T-Ball and Coach Pitch baseball at the Harris Y in Charlotte.
This led to me coaching a U-12 team and taking them to the playoffs. I found coaching kids an amazingly awarding hobby. I have continued to coach baseball through my son’s baseball experience.
In 2012, I began training for a marathon after running my first half marathon in the St. Pete Rock and Roll Half-marathon. I completed Charleston (2013); NY City (2013); Pittsburg (2014); and Charlotte (2015). My best time was Pittsburg (3:49). (Let’s not talk about the others!).
My golf career has been mostly recreational until 2020, when I decided to take on the challenge of winning a golf tournament. I spent all of 2021 working on my game and re-establishing my handicap. I then joined the Golf Week Am Tour and have been competing ever since.
My quest to win a golf tournament was realized in 2023, when I won three times: twice on the Senior Tour and once on the Tour (specifics below). I also won the B Flight Championship for 2023 in the Senior Tour and was named Player of the Year for 2023 by Golf Week Armature Tour Charlotte.
My golf journey continues…
Experience
In Business
I am a serial entrepreneur, starting multiple successful businesses including Insignia Group, LC, which celebrated its 20th year in 2021 and for which I continue to serve as the CEO. I am a mentor to other entrepreneurs, which include musicians. I helped found and now serve as a board member of the Gravity Center in Rock Hill, SC, which is a hub for entrepreneurship in York County. More recently, I am working with a team to open a music venue in Rock Hill.

2025 Season
Walnut Grove Christian School – Head Golf Coach
In the Spring of 2025, I was hired in a NY minute as the Head Golf Coach for the High School and Middle School Teams. Becoming a coach at a school was something that I whispered into the Universe for a long time: “Wouldn’t that be awesome.” Well, the Universe had plans for me…
In our first season, the Middle School Warriors won their Conference Championship and we had one high schooler accepted to play at their chosen college golf team. Great experience in my freshman year as a Head Coach.
